Honestly, this was the most rewarding class I've taken at UCLA.

I am in my third year of undergrad, and can confidently say that Professor Kumar is the most well rounded professor I have ever had. From the very first class you feel that she is very engaged. She goes out of her way to make students feel welcome in her class by memorizing people’s names, staying after class to answer questions, and taking however much time is needed for every student to understand each topic. Her teaching style is not traditional, rather than teaching from slides directly, she focuses on making interactive examples on the spot. This made going to her class something to look forward to, as instead of expecting tons of information shoved in your face, she tells you exactly what you need to know for the exam (and career). Just like any other management course you have to work for your grade. As long as you listen to her advice of studying for her exams you will be fine! Professor Kumar is one of the few professors at UCLA with her caliber of experience in what she teaches. If you have the chance, go to her office hours and ask her career questions. She is very knowledgeable on entrepreneurship and the different career paths for people in the business economics major and accounting minor. If you are looking to be an entrepreneur, business consultant, or a CPA, you honestly would be doing yourself a disservice by not taking her class. If you are just looking to fill requirements and want to have a class in your schedule that isn’t super exhausting to sit through and you still learn a lot, take this class.

Professor Kumar had a lot going on this quarter including quarantine and family issues which caused her to miss 5-6 lectures. The lectures which she was on Zoom for required participation which was 30% of the grade (Case study 10%, MT 25% Final 35%). Whats worse is that she grades participation so arbitrarily because other students I know and myself received a 90 for participation even after we completed all required activities and spoke in class. The midterm and final were take-home and she gave us permission to use the online textbook. It blows my mind how not everyone gets an 100 on these tests but the averages were like 88 for the mt and 91 for the final. Back to Kumar, her lectures are very engaging and she is always happy to be teaching but shes a little disorganized. She doesn't always post slides on time or can't figure out zoom etc. The good news was this class is an easy A but the bad news is I didn't learn much.

Honestly the class wasn't too bad but the professor was extremely unclear on the grading. She didn't upload the final grades till 2 days after the due date and we had no way of knowing why we got the grade we did. Tests and quizzes were unable to be reviewed so we could see what we did wrong, and it was frustrating to just randomly see a grade at the end with no real explanation. For the actual material, the professor is really nice and tells a lot about her own experience in the entrepreneurial space, which is really cool. She also had to deal with some issues in the beginning of the quarter so I can understand why she was a bit disorganized at the start. Overall, the professor is nice and a good lecturer to learn for knowledge's sake, but her confusing grading breakdown and that fact that the tests are not super related to what she lectures on makes it a hard class to recommend.

0 transparency about what went on in scoring tests or the final, no opportunities to review mistakes and learn or make regrade requests. Really tough to follow anything when the lectures don't help with tests, incorrect/unclear instructions for the most part.

Usually Bruinwalk reviews are filled with biased experiences and opinions but I will try to be as fair and coherent as possible.

Mrs. Kumar is simply an incompetent professor.

I'm not sure whether it's because of the online format but she is incredibly lazy with her lecture content and provides minimal help.

Her class is so unorganized that she would often repost the same lectures on multiple weeks and provide little content (about 30min of lectures for a whole week). She simply rereads the slides in her lectures (I can do that myself) and her examples are irrelevant to her quiz/test questions

There were multiple instances this quarter where she did not post the quizzes at the assigned time, making us wake up early for literally no reason. She barely held live lectures and when she did schedule live lectures they were often canceled.

This class did not even feel real this quarter as I self-taught the majority of the material and my own professor provided zero assistance for TEN WEEKS.

She would also fail to post homework questions and lectures for certain weeks which made the ENTIRE class fall behind. She takes an extensive amount of time to grade the quizzes when she literally doesn't have anything else to grade. There was a situation this quarter where she literally ghosted the whole class for four straight days.

I'm sure taking Kumar during in-person instruction will be different from my experience, but I fully believe that her laziness and lack of interest in students will also transition to in-person classes.

Avoid Kumar like the plague if you can and never look back

Taking this class genuinely made me miss my community college professors because the difference in passion is so blatant

Would strongly recommend not taking this class with prof kumar. You will learn absolutely nothing from attending lectures so it's better to not go. Oftentimes we went over things that are irrelevant and so we didn't even finish learning all the chapters that we're supposed to learn. The midterm was online and open book so it was straightforward but the final was terrible. She tested us on things she clearly said wouldn't be on the exam. You're better off taking managerial accounting at a community college.

This professor is vicious to student. She doesn’t want you to succeed in class, but to trick you. She mentioned that only some chapter are on final but ended up seeing more than 3 question that’s shouldn’t be covered. That’s how she trick her student. She also mentioned that we’re not getting tested on the case study but the case showed up on the exam anyway. This professor is vicious and a bad person in general.

6. She will only talk about how successful she is as a businesswoman and hope we can learn sth from her personal life experience, but she probably forgets that we paid a big fortune for studying the most advanced managerial principle instead of her highlight of life.

Don't take it too personally. I'm not denying this person. Professor Kumar usually encourages people to ask questions in class and will answer their questions patiently. I'm pretty sure that she will be a good person to be friends with. It's just she is definitely not a good professor, and she is the worst professor I've ever met in my life. For those who need to take this class as a required class, If you could, try to pick someone else, such as professor Woo. But it seems like Kumar is the only one teaching this class right now, so good luck, and remember to say sorry for the tuition you paid because it's not worth it.

The material was fairly interesting, though the professor became progressively more difficult to reach throughout the quarter due to technical and personal issues. The tests were fair and adjusted to the unconventional teaching method of this quarter as she told us she usually engages in more in-depth discussions when the course is taught live.

I liked professor Kumar as a person and I liked the real like examples of business she would talk about. She is very personable and would help during office hours. However she made a huge deal about how her practice test would prepare us for the final. I did all the homework’s, read all the chapters, and did her test multiple times, but none of that prepared me for her extremely difficult final. Her questions were very confusing and took up a whole page. She did not teach nearly enough in class to prepare us for any of the long answer questions on her tests. The whole quarter I felt like I was understanding the material, which isn’t a difficult topic at all, and her final completely screwed me.
