Hands down his directing for film and tv course is the best film class for directors here at UCLA. Great exposure to the filmmaking process and learning how to develop your approach to a scene and your eye as a director. You don't quite know what you'll be getting with each new class, but Schreibman relates and resolves everything through his directing philosophy. He's ecstatic and passionate about the material he teaches, and his love for film is infectious. EVERY DIRECTOR OR WANNA BE DIRECTOR SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS!

the man is a GPA killer. i am conflicted about the class because I did learn quite a lot. However, I feel he doesn't do a great job in nurturing future directors out there. He grades extremely harsh for the midterm and I feel that he doesn't do a great job in explaining things. He gets a kick out of throwing in these trick questions in his quizzes and he expects you to know everything even though sometimes he contradicts what hes saying. All i can say is, if you want to learn then go take his class. If you care about your grade, i would suggest to steer well clear of this professor. I truly wish there was another professor who would teach directing at the undergraduate level.

This is a great class! Myrl is very passionate about movies and directing. You go into class eager to learn something new and you walk away excited about the filmmaking process. The professor screens several clips from a variety of films and breaks them down to give you a better understanding of what goes into creating a scene. The midterm is challenging, however if you don't find it exciting and fun, then you probably shouldn't think about becoming a film director. Myrl is a great professor and his passion for filmmaking is infectious. Take his class, you will not be sorry.
