Great prof who really cared about this topic and class. I really learned a lot that I still use to this day. Super informative and its all stuff that is very good to know as a human being who consumes food (you get to learn hands on how your consumption patterns compare to others and how they affect the world which I found super cool).

Moana has been one of my favorite lecturers from this cluster. The material she covers isn't really all that interesting, however she presents it in a way that is easy to understand and is relatively engaging. It is evident that she cares about the wellbeing of her students and actually listens to the feedback she is given. Taking this cluster was probably one of the best decisions I could have made as a freshman. As a non-stem major it is really nice because it fulfills most of my science GE's and I even get lab credit, which is amazing consider the "labs" we do are not hard at all. I strongly recommend this class!

I recommend this class to any non-environmental majors who are interested in the environment because it is a great way to knock out science GEs and it is pretty interesting. What I liked most about this class was that all professors were extremely accommodating during covid and made each student feel like they mattered. This cluster felt like a real community :) Professor Levi and Professor Moana each taught for half of the quarter and Professor Moana was my favorite from this class, but Professor Levi was the easiest. The class is more focused on environmental topics as opposed to food, but food is still a focus. The first quarter of this cluster is more challenging than the second because students are introduced to college-level research and writing for the first time. Group in-class activities every week are good because you can make friends, and often they were pretty easy and graded for completion. TA Aaron Montenegro is very chill and mostly gives grades for participation.

More organized than the first quarter and the lectures are engaging. We have one midterm and 2 papers. Lectures are interactive and the readings generally pertain to what is addressed in class. However, I would suggest reading because anything is fair game for midterms. I have learned a lot in this class thus far and it helps you understand the food system.
