I really enjoyed this class. It's an excellent opportunity to come up with your own research study and conduct it with a group of peers with relatively little oversight from faculty. However, THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY TIME CONSUMING CLASS. It may be one unit but don't be fooled, my group spent 4-5 hours a day conducting our research trials. If you hate group projects, don't take this class. When I took it last quarter, one of my group members and I essentially did the entire study ourselves which cut the other two members a lot of slack. Despite that, those two members still earned Bs. Keep in mind that the group research report and oral report are the only two tangible elements of your project that Suman is able to grade. If you don't spend a lot of time on them (which we did not) you will not get the grade you hoped for. Also, if your group members are flakes, write it in the individual group dynamics report and talk to Suman about it. That helped a little bit but remember: it is still a group project -- one bad apple will drag the whole group down. If you want to avoid that risk, don't take the class.

I honestly liked this class and it was fun doing research with my group. I feel like we also got to bond and know each other more. This class is a lot of work though, especially for a ONE UNIT class like it should be at least 2 units. We would spend hours upon hours on our research projects, roughly 5 hours or so and we wanted to do multiple trials. The research is up to you, but the professor wanted us to do multiple trials for our research. After all of our work, he gave my entire group B's which is annoying because we worked so hard and there was no structure really or rubric that he was grading us on. I enjoyed this class though

Must take with comm 10. Not much work and you get all quarter to finish your one project. There is a lot of freedom with whatever you want to do, but with that there is also a lack of structure so it can be hard to do exactly what Suman is looking for.
