Class was pretty easy, just a couple of weekly assignments and the quizzes and midterm were all online. Final is in person though so if you haven't been studying, you'll have to study a lot for it. I loved the professor so much, she was such a great person and good teacher. And her voice speed is perfect for you to be able to watch the lectures on 2x speed, tbh you don't have to go to lectures unless you have a lab. Take this class!!
Professor Paquette-Smith is very clear and engaging in her lectures, and she likes to ask questions which helps prevent you from falling asleep. She is also very approachable, which i feel really matters. 10/10 would recommend. The class has little to no homework other than reading the chapters in the textbook, which isn't really required. There is one midterm and a final, and a couple of straightforward labs.
The slides are really engaging, but there are a lot of clicker questions involved. Accuracy with clicker questions count as well. The labs are not hard at all for the class. The material is fairly easy, because the professor goes over it well. The midterms and finals are not extremely difficult and very doable.
She's the best lecturer I've ever met at UCLA. She's soooo clear when she talks about class materials and is often sweet and funny.
She gives out course outlines which contain the structure of most of materials to be covered in the lecture, but you may still have to take some notes since small details she talked about on class actually often appears in exams.
Her lecture is often funny and really engaging. She uses slides and they are super clear. There are some group projects but they are really easy and do not take much time to finish.
There is one midterm and one final for this class. They are of the same level of difficulty. Problems are quite straightforward, so as long as you listen to her carefully during lectures and memorize the outline as well as notes you take, you'll be fine.
If you have a chance, DO TAKE THIS COURSE WITH HER!
Professor Paquette-Smith is, without a doubt, the best lecturer I have ever taken a class with at UCLA. She makes things incredibly clear and understandable to all, and her lectures are often humorous and involve student-to-student interaction and fun activities (she also gave us candy one time). Tests are super reasonable and should be doable just from paying moderate amounts of attention in lecture.
Overall, I highly recommend this class. Lectures were engaging and material is engaging and interesting. Showing up to class is necessary but you'll never have a problem with it because this professor makes them interesting. Exams are based on lecture material and all of the lecture slides are posted on CCLE so if you miss a day it is alright. The labs are once a week and super easy and straightforward. All of the work for the class is relatively simple busy work. However, the exam questions can be misleading and the wording can be confusing at times...Basically, if you show up to class, it's likely you will be successful in the class!
