Outstandingly funny and understanding, you won't regret this class. It is a bit on the easier side, because of the format (lots of long-form class discussions, not a lot of actual work), but I legitimately learned more this way. Took this class during the initial BLM outrage around the death of George Floyd, and he was wildly respectful of students and emotions around this issue, even allowing us to express it during class. He has a good handle on balancing academics and real life.

Salway helps his students however he can. Regardless if your opinion doesn't make sense during lecture, he tries to get you to elaborate and make your opinion seem reasonable and logical. He always holds office hours and makes sure you leave lecture and office hours without any confusion. The BEST professor at UCLA.
