Professor Lafferty was great at taking the time to explain concepts and really paid attention to students to make sure everyone was understanding. He created so many opportunities to get help (website/forum, emails, office hours) and with the use of the website, there was constantly a source to seek homework help or answer class related questions. Lafferty is a chill dude and I highly recommend taking his class. Also, the midterms and final are very on par with the difficulty of the homework and practice problems/tests that he gives so thats extremely helpful in preparing.

Lafferty still teaches math, which is a pain in the ass, but he did a pretty good job. I was surprised at how approachable his class was. He was a bit of a bumbling fool at times, but a lovable fool nonetheless.

PS. His tests were surprisingly doable. I was scared shitless after 31A., but his tests definitely weren't bad.

I love Lafferty! Hands down the best professor I've taken at UCLA. He bends over backwards to help students while making sure not to just spoon feed us the information. He is amazing at explaining concepts and examples, and even if you don't understand the material in class, he will be there to help at office hours. I wish I could take him for every math class at UCLA

Prof. Lafferty is a wonderful person and one of the best teachers I've ever had. He went slowly enough for everyone to follow, yet managed to keep fast learners engaged in lecture. He catered to his students as much as humanly possible, holding office hours almost every day the week leading up to the final, and even deciding his teaching methods (slides vs. handwritten) based on what students said suited them. His tests were very manageable and grading very generous; the first midterm was perhaps too easy, and realising this, he upped the difficulty level -- without going overboard, which I really appreciated. I feel extremely fortunate to have been in his class, and would recommend him to anyone and everyone! Even if you hate Math, Matt will endear the subject to you to some degree. Personally, he has cemented my decision to be a Math major, something I honestly wasn't sure of coming into this quarter :)

Matt Lafferty has been the best professor I've had so far at UCLA, as well as one of the best math teachers I've had throughout my academic career. While some of the concepts involving improper integrals, infinite series, and sequences can be difficult to comprehend, Matt goes above and beyond to help his students understand the material. He makes it his priority to cater to the needs of undergraduate students, a quality that's often lost among professors seeking tenure or trying to make a name for themselves in their respective fields. Most importantly, he cares about his students. He responds to emails very promptly, patiently answers all the questions of his students, and communicates very effectively inside the classroom and out. He always takes his time with concepts in order for the material to really sink in before he adds another layer. Matt wants you to succeed, and if you put in the effort, you will do very well in his class. If you need to take Math 31B at some point in your UCLA career, or if Matt is listed as one of the professors offering your math class, make sure to choose Matt as your professor! You won't regret it.

Professor Lafferty is the best Math professor I've come across at UCLA so far. He probably cares more about your grade than you do yourself, and he'll try his best to be a fair grader. He had various resources to guide students in his class, and held plenty of office hours before the midterms or final. HE IS AMAZING. YOU WILL BE MISSING OUT ON THE BEST MATH CLASS OF YOUR LIFE IF YOU DON'T TAKE HIM.

Professor Lafferty is the homie. He is honestly the most fair, caring, unselfish, respectful, and helpful people you will ever encounter (not just at UCLA). He is so resourceful and genuinely wants his students to succeed. He does not make the class crazy difficult but ensures that we are challenged while still understanding the material. If you ever get the chance to take him, do not pass it up. It will be the biggest mistake of your life, I promise. I would enroll in Lafferty's class even if it was at 4am every day. Love this dude.

Professor Lafferty is a great math professor! Extremely clear and puts a lot of effort into helping his students. His tests are fair, and he has a lot of resources to help you with the class. Very easygoing and friendly!

Possibly the best math professor I have ever had at UCLA. He is very nice and kind. You will want to go to class because he's just a cool straightforward guy. If you are deciding between which professor to take, just choose Lafferty. He one of the best math teachers I have ever had. 👍

Professor Lafferty is really helpful and nice. His lecture is clear and he gives out class notes. He cares a lot. I really like his class a lot. It is a easy class
