i took math 3c with tassy in the fall (2014), and got a B+ (which is pretty good considering im god awful at math) in comparison to other professors who taught 3c he's pretty straight forward. he has an accent so be warned that youre going to have a hard time understanding him. he just does examples in lecturer, which can sometimes be hard to follow cuz. he also likes spending time on proofs, even though he'll never ask you to prove anything. but his 2 midterms and final ask pretty straight forward questions that you would understand if you understand the weekly hw that is assigned. the key to sucess in this class is to get a good TA. i hope a horrible TA, and just stopped going to that discussion and found another TA who was way better. the concepts in the class get pretty tricky and quickly move from probability into calculus by the second midterm. so just be warned. i saw what some other math 3c professors were asking of their students and some of it was way out there compared to what Tassy was teaching, which is only the basics. so if youre gonna take math 3c take it with tassy

Martin is a nice professor overall. His classes basically follow the materials of the textbook and there isn't anything that's really out of my expectation. Assignments are from the exercises on the book. Mid-terms and the final are very doable wih a difficulty level below his assignments but a bit above practice exams. He wasn't available for two weeks but had managed to let the TA host helpful review sessions. My suggestion for acing his 115A is just understand every theorem he covered and try to reproduce them on your own. And don't copy the answers when doing the homework. That's it!

I took his class this fall and he's very fair in terms of the difficulty of midterms and finals (Very comprehensive and not out of the blue). Study his notes and do the homework and really don't stress out too much about this class. I think his curve is very generous in terms of getting B's I didn't perform well on the final and THE MIDTERMS and only did somewhat well on the hw and I got a B-. However, I do believe from listening to others getting in the A range is very tough. You must be meticulous with every point. Maybe this is true for all upper division math classes? The professor cares about your learning a lot. In office hours, he doesn't mind answering any question you have and he tries to elaborate to teach you what you need to know. His notes are also very thought out and he doesn't go too quickly at all in comparison to some other professors. I recommend him a lot! (Just be careful if you're trying to get an A)
