He was a great professor. Though, lecture could get boring and it being at 8am wasn't the best. Yet, I could tell Jepson really tried. I received an A in the class in the end and for the midterm had gotten a B. All you need to do is do the readings and really understand them. As far as grading goes, it all depends on your TA. They are the ones grading the papers so attend discussion.

Professor jepson teaches his material thoroughly and gives so many examples for the readings so that the students will understand the material. The readings need to be read analytically so that you can do well on the midterm and final. The assignments are not that hard at all, but i suggest to get started on them early so you don't have to rush in the last minute. He is willing to help you with what you need , you just have to visit him during office hour. Overall, his class was very interesting and funny because of his jokes. I recommend taking this class. I really love this class. Even though the lectures are 8am, Professor Jepson tries to make the material interesting and thoroughly goes through the reading with SO MANY EXAMPLES !! He's super nice to all of his students. Go to his office hours if you have any difficulty with readings or the writing assignments ! He is so willing to help you !!! There are 30 readings and i suggest that you read them analytically because some of them are hard to understand and need to be read carefully !! I recommend to take this class !!!

Professor Jepson was absolutely incredible. He is a rockstar when it comes to helping you to take the knowledge that you learn in the class, and begin applying it to the social situations that you'll encounter, as well as other fields of study that you are pursuing. Absolutely incredible professor, would definitely take the class again.

Professor Jepson is absolutely incredible and brilliant- he is a genius at what he does, and I promise that you won't be disappointed in this class. His lectures are exciting, and it's a shame that not enough people show up to lectures because of laziness- they missed out on his amazing insights and beautiful delivery of the subject. I believe that Dr. Jepson deserves a high honor for his concern for students and his brilliant teaching. Amazing.

Everyone who thinks that Professor Jepson is "boring", "politically incorrect", and "goes off tangent" are incorrect Everything that Jepson talks about is highly relevant, and fascinating. He is one of the best professors on campus, actually. He is brilliant, inspiring and very eloquent. You will learn a LOT from this class and take its lessons to other fields. Remember, you need to do ALL the work to be able to truly appreciate the class. Don't take this class for the A+. Take this class for the learning. You must take his class.

(This is a relatively easy class if you do the readings, which isn't that much to ask. His test questions can be a little tough sometimes, but it's not hard to get a B without doing much in the class). I agree very much with the reviewer further down who loved the readings he assigned, but was often angered by his lectures.

The course MATERIAL was fantastic, and I thought it provided a very good umbrella introduction into the different topics, and perspectives of sociology (without going much into the more radical thinkers). The films, especially the one on class, were great, and I found all but a couple of the readings full of new ideas and data I hadn't seen before.

But his lectures were at times infuriating. First of all, he recklessly generalizes. He turns social TRENDS into social FACTS, which I found extremely irresponsible for a professor whose job it is to introduce sociology to students not accustomed to this kind of thought. He seemed utterly unaware of the way in which the words he uses affect how people understand things. He also loved to use his lectures as a kind of soapbox for his harmless, mainstream liberal views. It seems like he accepts conventional wisdom far more than any competent sociologist should.

I would take his class for the material, but if you do, be aware of some dangerous tendencies in the way he frames and talks about things.
