One of the best professors I've had at UCLA. He's funny, teaches hard material but is one of the more humble teachers, going so far as to admitting he just learned the material too. I'll go out of my way to take this class again. And in fact, he made the difference for me in deciding to change my research interests, just because he taught it that well and made it that interesting.
GREAT professor. Of the three professors we had for Phy Sci 111A, he was my favorite. He's super energetic and entertaining, so I never got sleepy during his lectures. I also remember that he would sometimes make weird sounds, i.e. firing sounds to demonstrate discharge rate of action potentials, to enhance his lectures, haha. We had him for 3 weeks (2 lectures a week), so we were supposed to have 6 lectures total, but toward the end of the 3 weeks he told the class that he thought 5 lectures worth of material was more than enough for us. So, he decided to make the 6th lecture a "re-lecture." To prepare for the "re-lecture," he posted up a poll online in which students could vote on what slides they wanted him to go over again, aka the slides they wanted him to "re-lecture" on. So, the 6th lecture, the "re-lecture," was pretty much a review session during which the professor reviewed the slides that students most requested to be lectured again. I thought that was very generous of him. Also, his exam is incredibly fair. He doesn't go out of his way to trick you, and he really focuses on the material that he emphasized so the average for his exam was pretty high (85%). Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend him! Don't pass up your chance to have an amazing professor :)
Funniest professor I have ever seen. This guy is full of life and energy, I wish I could take more courses with him. He explained things very well, and tests you on material that he emphasizes in class. Explains things very thoroughly, and focuses on giving you a conceptual understanding rather than on forcing you to memorize useless garbage, unlike some other Phy Sci professors.
He was a great professor! He really made the material straight forward and easy to understand. His midterm was especially straight forward. Everything he emphasized in class, was on the exam (just like he said) and everything he glazed over was not on the test. He made lecture very entertaining. Definitely recommend taking a course (or two) with him.
