This review is for Math 32B, and not for Math 142. Professor Lombardo, in all honesty, is not a very good professor. She is new teaching here, and has a really heavy Italian accent. In addition, she writes really small on the blackboard, and didn't even know how to use the blackboards (i.e. moving one board up to the top, and sliding the next clean board to write on). Her teaching style is severely lacking, and her lectures provide no clarity in helping students understand the topics. I have heard similar reviews from other students, and it is a shame that I have to take this class with her, as her lecture is the only one that fits my schedule.
I also took a Math 32B class with Prof. Lombardo, and I feel compelled to say that she is not so bad. She may have an accent, but honestly if you cannot understand an accent from the Latin language family at least partially, you will have a tough time living in Los Angeles. I did not find her teaching style to be bad in particular, but even I would admit that she is not outstanding in the area. On the other hand, you do start to learn about simply connected domains and such in this class, which she does teach quite well. Overall, I will say that I got a better grade in her class than Math 32A, which is almost uncanny, so please do not be afraid to take a class with this professor; she is not terrible for everyone.
