-The class isnt that hard. -It covers a lot of material, i.e. its a lot of reading. -The class could have been structured better in that the topics covered were grouped in a hodge-podge way. -Professor Jacob is very knowledgeable in general, however I regret to say that she talks nonsense about modern physics. -Do all the reading if you can, but don't sweat it if you can't do it all. Study guides were given before the tests so you could study only for the things that were gonna be tested. -The exams were graded generously, e.g. If you could write a few paragraphs summing up the mainpoints, you could get an A on the first midterm.

GE Cluster 21A Prof. Jacobs is incredible. She is incredibly nice and open and loves talking and engaging with students, both in and out of lecture. She is very, very smart and knows what she is talking about. Prof. Jacobs is not difficult. While the readings can be difficult, many times will Prof. Jacobs clarify all the confusion about it in lecture so that the philosophers are much easier to understand. She is a wonderful teacher to have with Prof. Hunt for the GE Cluster.

Professors Hunt and Jacob worked wonderfully together. They are so sweet and really try to make the information relevant to today. I took the GE Cluster 21A and it was a wonderful experience. Although the readings were very intricate and difficult, they made you think (clearly Descartes, Hobbes, and Darwin evoke such difficult philosophies). The books we read were ones I wanted to read for awhile, books that you must read or know about in your lifetime, so I was very eager and happy to be able to experience all of these wonderful theories and read about them in one class at the same time. The midterm and final are pretty fair, I would recommend you go to lecture. That is where they really condense the information to you and give you tips on what will be on the midterm and final - they are mostly broad questions that are simple to write about if you attended lectures. There are two 5-6 pages papers that, depending on the TA, can be difficult. I would recommend this class, which requires a lot of thinking but very helpful and important material and readings. Professor Jacob was incredibly, both professors really showed how much they know and made the class look up to them.
