Tbh my failure to do well in this class was on me. I hate STEM. Especially as this was my first stem class at a huge institution like this, I was intimidated and terrified. I would get lost as soon as Velli would start saying anything above a four-syllable science word and cram into my turtle shell. But in reality, just take hand notes and rewatch lecture videos if you need to. There are like 5 assignments that he SHOWS you how to do or what he wants the answers to look like. Final is group project and its the easiest, I was able to do it just cross referencing a bunch of websites and citing my sources (he allows that, just be honest and cite). But Velli is super understanding. If you don't know something, visit him during office hours. He loves the work he does and appreciates people who show interest in succeeding in his class or in the subject. I failed to do that and ended up with a B-.
This class was a fairly easy GE, if a little boring at times. The midterm was online and it included one math problem and a short answer paragraph, but you could basically use the lecture slides to figure it out. There was no final, but a really quick paper to write that shouldn't take more than 3-4 hours. Prof gives out extra credit like it's Halloween candy, so definitely take advantage of each opportunity to boost your grade. You only really need the textbook to do the homework, but it doesn't take long to just flip through it and find the answer. Overall, it was a really easy A, but it wasn't was interesting as I thought it would be.
