I don't think Elaasar is the worst computer science professor out there, but I don't think my experience in his course was all that good either.

While he doesn't give too many homework assignments and bases much of our grades on our work in a group project, his lectures aren't really that engaging as a whole despite being somewhat well-prepared. Much of the time, I only really felt compelled to attend his lectures because of the mandatory participation quizzes, which were (fortunately) graded based on participation rather than the number of questions we answered correctly. Even so, I believed that his teaching style was a bit lacking, presenting the content in an unengaging way and having slides that are organized but a bit unclear in terms of the content that they present. It has even gotten to the point where I had to frequently ask the TAs clarification questions for a good chunk of the topics, besides doing web searches and collaborating with peers just to be able to learn the content covered on his exams and homeworks. This is not really a good sign for his course, especially when considering how its material covers plenty of content that may be useful in a career related in software engineering. I don't think I am even adequately prepared for the final exam, simply because of the lackluster job that he did in teaching us about software testing principles and DevOps (some of the final topics covered in the course).

Personally, I think that unless you are really considering a career in software engineering, you should try to find an excuse not to take this course with Elaasar. But even if software engineering is your desired career path, try to take it with someone who's more engaging as a lecturer.
