Favorite class at UCLA. Very straightforward, interesting content, and an easy A if you do the work!
GREAT PROFESSOR!
Interesting topic ,SUBURBS , different perspective.
Overall a good class!
Midterm, Reading Quizzes, Final Paper
Go to lecture, discussion, do the readings and your set.
Shes more analytical , more thinking less memorizing.
Does not like late arrivals or early departures =] ( your paying $ might as well get your moneys worth) .
This professor is straight-up crazy. She takes academia way too seriously. In fact, she yells at individual students without hesitation.
Late by a few minutes? You'll be called out and asked to leave immediately.
Decide to check the score of the game during lecture? She'll call you out, insult you, and tell you to leave.
Doze off during lecture? She'll snap her fingers in front of you, and scream at you to "WAKE UP."
If you want to feel like you're in high school again, by all means take this class.
The class is about institutionalized racism, not suburbia.
The professor is on her high horse every lecture.
This being said, it's a relatively easy A. You just have to regurgitate information she gives you on quizzes, reading critiques, the midterm, and the final paper.
This class is just a headache over all. Consider whether you're ready for this deal before you sign up.
she's very "motherly". class is overall pretty easy.
the subject, im sorry to say, is kind of a joke - who cares about suburbs?! the biggest disappointment for me was that she focused more on the history of suburbanization and less on suburban politics. there's actually very little politics involved at all in this course! mostly history & racial issues.
its easy to do well on the course. she gives away the biggest hints.
kicks people out of class if they're late. yells at people who try to leave early. this seems wrong to me when i'm paying about a thousand dollars for her class. i would say take her if you want an easy poli sci class, dont take her if you actually wanna learn something important.
this teacher is very straight forward with what she expects from you, yes it is annoying that she will kick you out of class if you are even 5 minutes late but make friends and have them tell you what you have missed. If you are not able to do that don't worry because her lectures are exactly from what she has written on her slide!
Keep up with the reading, pay attention to her lectures. she says there are pop quizzes but she gives you a heads up on when it will be and what it is on. midterm is easy if you study and final consists of a research paper. Very simple class to do well in if you just put in the work and actually care!
Great teacher, just take it.
From the title, you might think this will be a dry topic. However, this class is very interesting. You never need to do the readings, but get the book for the reading critiques.
Have a great time!
TA's rock too.
This is a very informative poli sci class. Frasure-Yokley leads a great lecture and sets students up for success. My TA was Bryan W. and he was excellent. Recommend.
She makes her expectations very, very clear, and if you follow those expectations, it shouldn't be hard to get an A. Her lectures were pretty engaging and the material's interesting. Definitely take the class if you have the chance.
I absolutely loved this class and it is so interesting. If you have interest in urban planning, public policy, or political science, I highly suggest taking this class. Professor Yokley is a great lecturer and her power points are very easy to follow. The final paper is really easy as well! Definitely take this class! 11/10 would recommend!!!
Take this class, it is extremely interesting to see the makeup of our suburban lives. She doesn't take any B.S so if your'e someone who comes to lecture late, and sleeps in class maybe not for you. If you can stay awake, turn the assignments on time, and study what SHE TELLS YOU to study , I see an A in your future. Extremely interesting class with a wonderful professor.
