Fall 2024 - This class is GREAT. If you're looking for an easy class to satisfy the Social Analysis GE this should be it. Although I personally took this as a lower div for my major, there were plenty of students in other majors that were there for the GE or minor req. Now despite that it was a two hour 8 am lecture, they are not mandatory and it's also once a week. Professor Guillén is so compassionate towards all her students. She cares about your opinion and what you have to say, and does her best to make the lecture more discussion based given the sensitive topics surrounding education presented. As for grades, there's only three 1-2 page reflection assignments for the 3 units of the class (preschool, k-12, and higher ed) with multiple prompts you can choose from, and one final 5 page paper or podcast on the topic of your choice, so long as it relates to anything mentioned throughout the quarter. Discussion section is mandatory, but the TA's are amazing! If you can get Micaela Bronstein, she's the best. I believe the two TA's from Fall 2024 will be apart of EDUC 10 team for Winter and Spring quarter as well!
