This class was just 1-unit, but I wish Lily taught it as a full experience, because the topic is super engaging and interesting, and she is full of life and excitement because it's her area of expertise. She is doing research with music and cultures, and I find that admirable, more than the other research I have seen, just because this makes people more aware and less ignorant of other cultures, and become more open through the use of music. Music heals the soul and brings people together. Would take this class over and over again if I could. We also got to learn some guitar songs, play with an indigenous culture's instruments, and learn about everyone's culture and music, as well as musical background. We all got to record two songs in the recording studio, and there were some talented students in our class that did amazing solos. Overall, I was super excited to come to class, Lily reminded me of the cutest asian mom, she was just so happy to teach us music and about her research. More than I can say for other professors doing research in their field.
She literally had no idea what she was teaching. She would have the class do presentations on the material so we never really knew if the information we were being given was accurate. On multiple occasions it was the students doing the teaching and her being puzzled.
Very unprepared. Makes up assignments and deadlines and asks for last minute meet ups and expects you to show up.
Completely disorganized. Unclear instructions. Rushed through material. NOPE.
This class was so terrible that there were days that that only two people would show. There was even a day when there was only one person in class.
She doesn’t even teach this class. She has to bring in outside help because she doesn’t know what she is doing. She’s simply not a vocalist or a halfway decent musician. Oh and she falls asleep in class all the time.
I have never cried more in a class than I have in hers. And I once had a sexist white supremacist guy for a calc class.
Worst professor I’ve ever had. Never experienced a professor that is so determined to beat the life and passion for teaching out of her students due to her own incompetencies
She doesn’t even teach her own classes, and she falls asleep whenever she gets the opportunity. Extremely unclear and unprepared. I believe she has a hard time letting go of her regressive Chinese values, because if you cause her to lose face she will make sure you don’t move forward (even though she is massively unprepared to be teaching any class that is not early childhood education).
