Prof. Nurbekyan is great! He explains every concept really clearly and really cares about student learning. I felt like he gave a great understanding of not just the concept but some of its interesting implications, and at the end of the quarter I felt like I had a great grasp of the concepts taught.
This class was definitely tough as you might expect from UCLA's intro to proof-based math class. The workload was pretty heavy, especially for the first few assignments, but got much better later on in the course. Definitely be prepared for his tests, as they can be pretty tricky. He only tests on material that he went over in class, but his problems usually seem to be written by himself and require some cleverness and intuitive insight to solve. Despite the heavy workload I felt that the work actually helped me understand the material better.
Overall I would definitely take this class with him again. The conceptual understanding you gain is great and well worth all the effort as this class will set you up for success in future math calsses.
I'm not a math major but I took this class as one of my TBR engineering courses, the class material is hard but Professor Nurbekyan was great. His lectures were better than any of my engineering courses. He's very clear and caring for students. The class is based on weekly HWs (which first 4-5 was very long but rest was fine), 3 short midterms (were he droped the lowest one), and a final exam (longer than midterms but doable). Overall I recommend him for this class.
Although online learning is not ideal, this has been a wonderful experience for 115A. Homework questions are interesting and challenging, and there isn't too much homework either. Tests are medium difficulty and thought-provoking. If you know the material well, you should be able to answer them.
