Spring 2022 - Leslie is a fantastic teacher, and her comments were constructive in improving my essays. However, the first half of the class was packed with reading reflections due in every single class, and you were expected to finish the essay draft within two nights, which I thought was challenging. There were three writing projects for the course, based on nine readings. You would pick at least one reading to answer the prompt and support your arguments. Each project had two drafts to be submitted, and you would have a conference with her and use her suggestions to edit your essay. The last and the most significant portion of your grade would come from revising two writing projects from your selection. So, the last one-third of the class was quite laid back which I found nice after a tiring academic year. Along the way, you would learn how to construct and organize your arguments, revise your writing mechanics, and improve your writing skills. In addition, I found some tools that helped me write that I would use for future essays, such as a collocation dictionary (Ozdic) or other tips. Overall, it was a good class, and I recommend taking it with her. The tips are don't be afraid to speak up in the class and carefully take notes of her suggestions on your essays.
