I know Lei He doesn't get a good rep on BruinWalk, but I have to back up my boy here. Although I was a computer science major (graduated last year), Lei He's classes were two of my favorites at UCLA (M16 + M116C). He explains things in a shockingly great way, you just have to get past the accent (which most UCLA professor have, anyways he's trying his best). Honestly he does an amazing job and as someone who went through the gauntlet of the 'toughest' classes at UCLA I can tell you this is nothing to worry about.
The problem is not that he does not how to teach, it is that he does not want to teach and does not care about students that much. He teaches some of the topics reasonably good, but his lectures are confusing for most of the time. You can tell that he does not prepare for the class well: he even does not know what is in the slides sometimes, and if is he does not know the materials well, he will directly skip them. He often makes us leave nearly 1 hour early, even have two or three classes off this quarter, which the holiday has already taken 2 classes. He says he plans this as there is not that much to teach. But the truth is that no one really understands what he is teaching, and we have tons of problems.I am fine with those professors who try hard but are not good at teaching, but Lei is not one of them: he takes no pride in teaching
