I really enjoyed the class. Super easy and interesting. Dr. Feldman was very effective in his lectures and seemed to care for his students. BUT NOOOOO...he's still Feldman. Great class though and I must say, Dr. Feldman's jokes are pretty darn good.

I usually dont write reviews for professors except when the other reviews are just dead wrong. I dont know what all the people below are talking about. Maybe Feldman had some kind of revelation this year, but he's definitely one of the best professors in this department, and like the review below me, I liked him better than Dasgupta. Yes, his tests are challenging, but I really think that the only reason why people liked Dasgupta so much more was because Dasgupta tested on memorization, while Feldman actually tested whether you actually UNDERSTOOD the material. Yes, he throws in curveballs on his tests, but I wouldn't call that unfair. He just wants to see if you can take what you learned in class and apply it to new situations. That's what you're going to be doing if you do research, right? I did better on his midterm than on Dasgupta's, and overall, I didn't even do that great on their exams and I still got an A. Feldman is not for the weak, so if you're one who complains about working hard and actually learning the material, then don't waste your time in this class.

Feldman isn't a horrible lecturer... in fact his lectures make sense and they are better than some other professors' lectures I've had to put up with in UCLA. The one thing I don't like about him is his attitude. He is mean, and he can be pretty rude... I never went to his office hours because of that. Sure his test questions are hard (because they are all based on experiments he went over) but they are so doable if you put in enough time to study the material.

Horrible. One of the most arrogant teachers I have come accross in my 4 years at UCLA. He mentioned how he taught med students on a daily basis, like we are supposed to be impressed with his teaching prowess. Dagusputa was great and he ACTUALLY cared about what we learning. Wish I could say the same about Feldman. Tests were hard, even if you studied well. Unfortunately, theres no way to avoid this guy.

His test questions are very experiment-based (Describe the expt, design an expt, and explain the rationale behind the expt, etc.) I don't find him to be a particularly good lecturer, and many of his test questions sound very awkward to me--I have to read them a couple times before I understand what is going on. The focus on essay type test questions and the fact that some TAs do just skim through your answers and look for keywords mean that you have to know what you're answering--don't mention all the irrelevant stuff. I think his course reader is OK and most of the stuff are self-explanatory. I know someone who is working in his lab and he likes him; for me, he's not the worst teacher around, but I have certainly seen better ones even in the MIMG dept.
