Laurence is fabulous.

If you have the chance to take a french course with Professor Laurence, do it! She is so funny, kind, and really wants her students to succeed. She gives great feedback, and is encouraging as the material gets more difficult. She is a fair grader, and the workload is beneficial to improving your french.

I took french 5 and 100 with Laurence and she is by far the best teacher I have had in my three years at UCLA. She's not that difficult, and she really helps you learn. She's an amazing teacher and I plan on taking every class i possibly can with her.

She is wonderful in every way, as a professor, and as a person. Take her class.

I love Laurence. I took French 6 with her last quarter and I'm just finishing up French 100 with her now. She is exceedingly kind and understanding. She is passionate about her country and language, and she wants to share this passion with her students. She isn't the most organized professor, and her lectures tend to be a bit all-over-the-place, but this flexible quality serves as an advantage when you need help. For example, I, a French major, ended up bombing her test last week. I was miserable and humiliated, thinking I wouldn't have a chance to do anything since it's the end of the quarter. She told me to come see her at her office hours, and we worked out a way for me to save my overall quarter grade. I'm not saying she'll do this for anybody because I think it has to do with how much effort you put into her classes...but if she sees that you truly care and aren't a slacker, she will help you as much as she can. I have to reiterate how understanding she is. Though she can sometimes seem intimidating and a bit reserved, her sense of humor and warm nature overrule any of her negative qualities. She gets that we're all human and make mistakes. She's a professor whose goal is something EVERY professor should strive for: teaching students effectively while retaining a sense of fairness.
Also, she is extremely chic. I actually wrote down what she wore some days because I think her sense of style is so admirable. Now I want to go shopping and get some "Laurence" fashion for my wardrobe :P She's the epitome of a classy French woman. Take her if you get the chance. I'm going to miss her next quarter.

Granted Laurence is a really great person to talk to and interact with, I felt like she didn't even really know what she was teaching us in this class. It was a class on description in our essays and I constantly found myself being tested on grammar. Also, I have no idea how the grading went down. I'm not going to complain much, but I dont think I'll take another class with her because there wasn't much structure. On the flip side, class was never boring.
