Professor Hofschneider is one of the best psychology professors I have had at UCLA! She takes her time with the lectures, connecting the concepts with fun, engaging ideas. She also only has one homework assignment a week, which is a discussion board post. Overall this class was an absolute joy to have, and I would 100% take again.
Psych 150 with Prof Hof is honestly my favorite class at UCLA. She's super sweet and is engaging with her lectures. Homework assignments were super simple, primarily just reflections about your habits and how you plan on changing them (may vary with the regular school year). She dropped the lowest 3 class assignments which I thought was pretty nice if I accidentally forgot to turn in an assignment. I fell off coming to class on time since it was at 8:30 am but even then, I just took notes all on my own from her slides and got 100% on the final (open book/ notes) and ended the class with 103% (including the 3% extra credit she offered). The final was very fair and covered everything she taught us in class. It may be different than what it is in person but overall, this class was great and would 10/10 recommend.
Prof Hof is fantastic! She is super enthusiastic and easygoing. She tries her best to help us learn materials and improve grades. Definitely want to take other classes she teach if I have chance!
Her tests are super reasonable and she drops questions that have mistakes or are simply controversial. The means were high (about 22/25?) She also drops the lowest of three exams, so I opted out of final and did not need to go to lectures after I got the score of second test.
Her homework is asking questions and answering other students' questions based on short interesting readings, which is graded by AI and difficult to not get full points. With 3% extra credits, you are basically guaranteed an A in this class.
The only thing I had a little trouble about this class was that the lectures were 8:00 am, but I didn't feel sleepy at all in her class! She is young and new so some concepts can be a little unclear, but she would try to find other ways to explain which is nice.
Very engaging and easy professor. Homework the entire quarter was an easy discussion that is graded a 100% by AI if you scored >65 (you can redo it until you reach this score) and submitted on time. Although is not required, it is vital to doing well on the exams. Come to class to jot down information NOT in the slides that will show up on the exam. Write everything she says and you should nail her exams. 3 exams and she drops the lowest. If you do well on the first two exams you only need to do the weekly discussions mentioned above. Online timed exam 75 mins 25 questions open for 24 hrs. Do SONA and teacher evaluation for 3% extra credit. Easy to satisfy psych requirement or for elective. Put no more effort than 2 hours per week and you should achieve nothing less than an A.
The course is very low-maintenance and had various assignments due at the end of the week. The exams were comprehensive and weren't too difficult. Prof Hof does not record her lectures but I rarely attended and still did well. Keeping up with the slides and assignments is the majority of the grade so I'd def take the course if you need something easy.
