Professor Varvarezos gives me hope for the future of mathematics educators. He is very thorough in lectures and gives many examples, so taking notes go great. He also videos his lectures on Canvas, although the camera work is often so bad and annoying that I'll just go in person. His grading schemes are very forgiving, with an option where you can even drop your lowest midterm completely with more weight on the final. Test questions are very accurate to the practice sheets he sends out, with some variations in types of problem but with similar concepts. You get to make a cheat sheet for exams; both midterms were very straightforward, and the final was easy but utilized more critical thinking. Varvarezos is also very helpful in office hours, both on Zoom and in-person, he is great at explaining!!

The professor teaches clearly and concisely and midterms and finals tested very basic concepts. As this class is a requirement for most majors, I recommend him. Office hours are super helpful and getting a good grade in this class is not tedious.

Professor Varvarezos was a fine professor. His tests were manageable but difficult, and if I had to take this class again I wouldn't mind being in his lecture.

This class was great. He’s a great professor and you should totally take 31A with him if you are able to. The workload was not and at all. All you had to do was study to do good on midterms and final.

Best professor ever! The midterms and final are exactly like the midterm and final study guides, kinda even easier, the homework was sometimes even harder than the tests. He is very good at giving examples during class and always makes sure to ask if anyone has any questions when going over topics. If you took AB Calc in high school this is an easy A for sure.

Varvarezos is a very clear lecturer and provides several examples for each new concept learned. The midterm exams and the final were super manageable, and the TAs were very helpful. There are 2 midterms and a final, and your discussion participation (a weekly worksheet) are graded (discussion for completion (may vary by TA) and homework for completion and accuracy). His lessons were very easy to follow and understand. I'm very glad I took 31A with Varvarezos!!

The material is easy if you’ve taken AP Calc AB in high school. The practice midterms and final are practically the same as the real ones, and both are quite straightforward. The professor is clear with notes and answers questions kindly. Classes are recorded. The only things that you need to keep an eye on are the weekly homework assignments because he takes marks off for lateness and accepts nothing after 3 days tardy. Overall, would recommend. Easy A if you pay attention and have learned any of it before.

Amazing professor and lecturer! Explains concepts very clearly and is easy to understand. Exams/midterms aren't too hard (HW is harder). Very helpful during office hours and always leaves room to ask questions during lectures. Allows notecards in midterms and a cheat sheet in finals. Posts lecture recordings on BruinLearn.

Professor Varvarezos is the best!! He is an absolute godsend for 31A compared to what I've heard about other 31A professors (ex. Wu) he's practically a guaranteed A. I mean this from the bottom of my heart when I say I'm god awful at math but his exams are so so easy. I got 100% on both midterms and 96% on the final, my exam performance was better than my HW performance lmao. He doesn't overcomplicate concepts like some instructors tend to and I believe his exams are a fair assessment of what is learned. He allows a double sided notecard for each midterm and a double sided sheet of notes for the final, which is beyond enough. The most challenging part about his class was probably juts a handful of super challenging HW questions that I chegged, but virtually no curveballs were in the exams. Take 31A with Konstantino if you can, a GPA saver!
