GE Cluster 70A Professor McKeegan cares deeply about his students and their learning. He taught GE Cluster 70 very well for several non-science majors. He makes the concepts really clear and organizes his lectures well. He uses great demonstrations to teach and tries to make the course very interesting. He was very helpful during review session also. I highly recommend that you take a course from him.

Loved this guy. His class is simple, his lectures are about as informative as the reading, and he even has a sense of humor. He's very approachable and cares about students who have questions. As homework you basically get three handouts over the quarter that are mostly problem solving. Sometimes they're a bit challenging, but if you go to his office hours, he will explain them and in some cases do the problems with you on the board. Reading what he assigns does help for exams, and it's really not that boring (the book's tries at humor were actually amusing... at least the book for Fall08 quarter). The main key for this class is to go to his office hours and you'll be fine.

Spring 2019 - Interesting course material. When I took this, it was taught with Professor Moon as well, but I couldn't find her here so I'll just do one review for both. It's a pretty easy science GE with a bonus diversity fulfillment, if you're good at memorization. - Lectures were fairly interesting, but kinda stressful if you want to take notes since they go fast (slides posted online later). - Both profs are nice and pretty helpful during office hours. - Attendance is counted in both section and lecture, so you do have to show up at least half the time. - The homework (drop 1) was easy, but the final report (1-2) is a little annoying. - Weekly quizzes (drop 1) weren't too bad if you read the textbook/can google quickly - Exams (1 midterm and final) were mostly multiple choice with some free response, and both sections were mainly facts based on the textbook/slides. Nice class and fun professors overall. If you take this class, be prepared to become slightly paranoid about earthquakes afterwards.

GE 70A Compared to Larkin, Mckeegan is more disorganized(as seen through his powerpoints)and less hardworking( he doesn't write supplement notes or go through the midterm review questions as thoroughly as Larkin does). However, on the whole, I think he also makes a decent lecturer. Some people might find his portion of the class a little more lackluster, but that's not really his fault. In my opinion, people find him less favorable because 1) his speciality is about rocks, and 2) everyone in the room knows Larkin is a genius( and a really nice one too) and so naturally, they would prefer him no matter how his competition does.
