(Don't why Eng 140 wasn't an option to choose from. I took him for 140a) I have no idea how he got such good reviews. I will agree that he cares, if you go to his office hours. The real trick with him is to go to his office hours...but if you work and don't have time to chat with him you'll do really badly. His lectures are the worst. You'll think you understood perfectly, but he won't think you did. He's a nice guy, but a terrible teacher. If you want an easy A, just go to his office hours and form a study group before the test. If you want to LEARN, avoid his class...His teaching skills aren't as good as they should be.
I have taken 140A and B with Reinhard and I'm on the lookout for one of his seminars. While not the most personable of Professors, his classes are enjoyable and the material is thoroughly interesting. Siding on the philosophic, he offers are a welcome shift from the usual department requirements. Quite a bit of reading but well worth it.
