So, so, so easy.

Take her. I don't think she's terribly interesting, but that's because history is just really not my thing.

She seems like a pretty cool person, but I never actually went to office hours. And I have to say...I usually fell asleep in her class.

She likes to show movies, which is always a nice break from lecture (one time we watched a part of Monty Python!)

This is an easy class, but it's not a total cake walk. Unfortunately there's a lot of things of memorize (pages and pages of red terms), however if that kind of thing is easy for you, THEN you will have a realyl easy time. And the professor is nice and seems to care about the class a lot.

HOWEVER, this class is not about the professor, it's about the TA you have because they're the ones that are going to be grading all of your work. If you have ANY choice in the matter GET INGRID!!! She's amazing and a really easy grader....she gave me an A+ and pretty much everyone else in her section an A. She's funny and caring. If you have the unfortunate situation of being in someone else's section, SWITCH! Ingrid gives out PTE numbers because she's amazing.

Class was pretty easy. I liked it. No pressure and the professor was really nice. You can tell she cares. Only drawback is it's pretty boring, but she tries. Tries to play interesting movie clips and make jokes....

This course was an easy history GE. Like others have said, the toughest part of this class was conjuring up the motivation to go to class, since it is early. I, though, am one never to skip class, so I went and sometimes caught myself beginning to doze off (15 minute movie clips of some old history movie can do that to you). Like other courses, the TA really determines your grade. Mine was Kate. She was very informed, kind of an odd one but really kind and helpful. I went to her office hours for help on the papers and she offered a lot of her advice when I showed up. This class is basically memorization. In lecture, Norberg highlights the terms that are most important in red. The ones that she discusses multiple times are the ones you will be tested on, but she also throws in a few random ones on the test to see if you were paying attention. Basically if you make notecards that have the information about the term and memorize those a few days before the test, you're set. For the final, you had to write 2 essays and discuss I think 8 terms, however it was easy to prepare for since 7 essay prompts were given ahead of time for you to make outlines from. Just make sure to draw some info from the book and any TA will be impressed. Overall I got an A and feel as though if you put in some effort at all, you are guaranteed at least a B. Good luck!

The worst part of the class was definitely the time: 8:30 MW was pretty rough, but she never took the full 75 minutes. Norberg made the information fairly easy and extremely basic, which made the class pretty simple. 1 paper (20%), 1 midterm (25%), 1 final (40%) and section participation (15%) made up the grade, which the TA completely controlled. History has never been my favorite subject, but Norberg and my TA Kristen Glasgow made it more than bearable. I never had much time to devote to the class and as a result my paper was sloppy and my studying was mostly last minute cramming but the class was still pretty enjoyable. Definitely recommended.

I took History 1B with Professor Norberg. She was an EXCELLENT professor. She took difficult material and made it simple and interesting for all students from all backgrounds could understand. Norberg was a great lecturer and showed us great video clips for us to enjoy!! :) I loved going to lecture, even though it was 8:30 in the morning. Her notes are posted online so print them out and take notes on them in class. She puts key terms in red which could be possible IDs on the exams so GO TO LECTURE. She also posts essay questions online ahead so prepare in advance, outline them, and study them. Midterm is 20% and final is 40% of your grade! Also, go to discussion and participate..this will help your grade immensely. My TA required weekly postings of the readings (not very long fortunately) but the postings took a long time. My TA was also a bit picky on the paper but I would advise going to office hours (which I didn't). The final was also difficult to study if you don't outline the essays in advance!! This was a great class overall, I learned a lot, and after working very hard, I got an A. I would recommend it to everyone!!! :)

Overall, this class was a pretty easy GE. I hate history (haven't taken a real history class for years) and this class was still bearable. Here's the breakdown:

1 essay (you get to choose which book you want to write it on but 99% of the class does it on the first book due during 4th week over the second book due 9th week. The first book had easier prompts and you get it out of the way)

1 midterm: 1 essay (you're given 5 prompts to study from, the professor chose 3 to put on the test) plus 4 IDs that you got to chose from 8

final: 2 essays (you're given 8 prompts to study from, the professor chose 4 to put on the test) plus 5 IDs that you got to choose from 10

Pretty easy class. Try to get Heather Carter as your TA. I got an A.

Professor Norberg is such a sweet professor and it is clear that she cares about our learning, not about how many students she can fail in the class, as well as our entertainment. Almost every lecture consisted of a video clip--once in a while, it was boring, but most of the time, it was pretty funny. Her website is also very organized and helpful--readings and lecture outlines were posted online weeks ahead of time. Your grade is based on one essay, one midterm, one final, and section participation. For the essay, you get to choose between two, which are due at different times. They are pretty easy to do. The weekly readings were mostly very short and not too painful. Essay questions for the midterm and final were posted online ahead of time (she chooses a few from the list she gives you, although it's pretty easy to guess which ones she'll choose) so there's plenty of time to write out a full essay outline for each. Along with one or two essay questions, the exams also had some key terms that you had to define who, what, when, where, and why for--she will point out her favorite ones in lecture. There was always plenty of time to do the exams--I always left early. Although lecture was pretty painless, section on the other hand was HORRIBLE. They are 2 hours long, which is WAY too long, during which you simply discuss the weekly reading. I had Aaron Olivas as a TA and he simply rambles and rambles about nonsense and isn't all that helpful in reviewing for the midterm or final. Unfortunately, due to my lack of section participation (I rarely spoke; only very few did), I ended up with an A- in the class. So I'd say an A- is pretty easy to accomplish. Overall, I recommend this class as a GE.

Professor Norberg was the sweetest old lady you'll ever find. That and her frustration with computers made the class a treat to attend. The TA's grade ridiculously easy, and the material is made interesting by her lectures. I would definitely recommend her for any other students. easy GE.

Norberg is extremely knowledgeable and entertaining in class. History 1B is incredibly easy. Take it as a GE, GPA booster, or just for fun. The essays are easy to do. The readings are not terrible. Lecture is not mandatory but good for learning. All the exam questions are given before hand and the subject is not hard at all to study.
