He is really ugh annoying, controlling of your writing style, i personally didn't like that and felt limited when it came to writing. But there are only like 4 essays and they're pretty easy and he lets you rewrite them as much as you want so that's cool. I'd recommend him for eng comp 2, not too complicated of a class. oh but there is hw every time you meet, so it is a bit time consuming.

The class:
It was pretty awesome, considering that I really shouldn't have needed it. I loved the subject matter: Cinderella, a hero's journey, etc. Interesting stuff! I really like the pace of the class and how you had peer reviews, outlines, and multiple drafts before you turn papers in. Also, the book "Writing with style" was incredibly useful! I still refer to it for other papers. However, this class does cover some grammer and introductory stuff (though helpful, it can be pretty annoying). Overall, this class really felt like high school, which is comforting in such a big university. Take it if you need it!

The professor:
Lisovsky is a pretty fair grader but you need to participate/go to office hours if you want him to like you. He expresses his concern for students, but it almost seems fake. Thus the guy below saying "don't let the smile fool you." One cool thing: after he grades the papers, he gives you the chance to revise your papers and strive for a better grade. It's awesome, but honestly, who has the time to do that?!?! You really only need to do that if you have a crap grade. One thing I hated was how he made "groups." He placed us all in random groups of 4 that you're stuck with until the end of the course. I just happened to be placed in a group that had terrible english and was no help for peer review. Though on the brighter side, he is very approachable and gives good advice for your papers.

He's really nice and easygoing. His lectures and materials for it are somewhat boring, but the class is fairly easy. He accepts late work and there's always a chance to resubmit the paper for better grade.

In this class, Professor Lisovsky tries to use fun topics to encourage writing. He is readily available in his office hours, which are very useful in writing papers. His lectures are tedious and feel like a waste of time, but you watch films! He spends lots of time working with your grammar and punctuation, especially commas. You get the whole quarter to turn in paper up till tenth week, which is good on your grade. He is a very nice professor and tries to weed out good writing out of students.
