Solid GE course! Taught me a lot about diet, nutrition, and general health! selling physical coursereader for $20! email ************* if interested!
Take this class! Easy GE, and overall a fun class. The only homework assignment is due at the end of the quarter which is a project. You use your own personal health data for this project and keep track of your diet and exercise for a week. Professor Esdin is a great professor, and is easy to follow along. The content is engaging and you do not need any background knowledge of physiology. My TA, Muhammad, is also really nice and there to help you. However, you are required to purchase a $100 textbook. I will be selling my textbook for much cheaper! Text me at **********.
Great Professor, really engaging lectures, he is kinda funny in his own way. All the quizzes are online. A lot of busy work in the class. All around an easy GE that everyone should take. It teaches you basic nutrition and how and why you could/should improve your health. Would take again.
Definitely take this Class, you wont regret it! The class is made up of about 5 quizzes, a project that you will submit at the end of the quarter, a midterm and a final. The project consists of you tracking your caloric intake as well as physical activity. Don't worry tho, its super easy and the TA will guide you along the entire process throughout the quarter but that doesn't mean you should leave it for last minute tho. The midterm exam was online (meaning you didn't have to show up to lecture to take it and could take it in the comfort of your own home). The test consisted of multiple choice questions, and to study the textbook was very useful, especially using the practice question given at the end of the chapters. Prof will also do a review session to help give u an understanding of what to expect. The final exam was also online and not proctored. You did need to attend class to receive your attendance points but if for any reason you had to miss lectures were recorded and posted on bruinlearn. A few opportunities for extra credit were available throughout the quarter that were basically mini surveys.
I would take this class again and i definitely recommend you to take it :)
Easiest Lab GE to take. Esdin is a fantastic lecturer - the only slightly annoying thing is that he's a stickler for attendance. You only get three free passes for lectures all quarter, and you have to attend all labs. As for workload, there's a lecture quiz every week (super easy, directly from the lecture), a Lab quiz every week (even easier, directly from the lab lecture), one midterm, one final, and a lifestyle assessment project (a little time consuming but fairly easy). As for the content, the difficulty and complexity is really low, but the volume is pretty large - you will have to study :)
If you need a science GE or need to fill physiology requirements take this class with Professor Esdin! Professor Esdin is one of the nicest and understanding professors I've had in my four years at UCLA. Taking this class allowed me to understand my own health and diet and is one of the few classes where I took away the most knowledge and will continue to apply in my everyday life. I highly recommend going to office hours too! You will learn so much more and will be inspired to change your lifestyle.
