Honestly, I can't stress to people enough to steer clear of Professor Post for any English class at UCLA. He is RIDICULOUSLY hard in his grading, he literally expects a perfect paper in order for it to receive an A. Worst of all, he nitpicks on grammar so much, that it's honestly completely pointless to review his comments.
Though, initially approachable, he is extremely pompous about his knowledge and does not provide clear guidance and answers to students. I cannot tell you how many times I visited his office for paper help, and knowing how hard I worked, (literally weeks) he still gave me a B+ with nitpick-y grammar corrections and comments. He strays away from grading the CONTENT of your paper and likes to dock off points for ridiculous things.
I took him for modern poetry, and all he did was lecture about the poems the way that HE thought best fit as interpretations. Though he stated that he wanted us to analyze the poems to our own discretion, he continuously "corrected" our interpretations of the works we studied.
Also, he has a "style sheet" that he is COMPLETELY anal about you following. He even threatens to not even read your paper if he finds even the slightest mistake.
If he ever reads this, I hope he understands that we are undergrad English majors, not PhD or grad school students. Though I understand UCLA is a competitive school, Post takes it to a whole new level.
Nice guy, but I will never take him again.
