I took 114a and 191c with doc Langdon. He is the best professor at ucla. He is dynamic and interesting and makes every class tell a story. I only wish I had discovered him earlier so I could have taken his classes every semester. There is for sure work involved but it's interesting and relatively simple if you make a basic effort. I love him and I just wish more professors at ucla were as involved and interesting as he is. What other professor tries to learn people's names in a class of 100? Doc you are a gem... You reignited my interest in school in general!

Summer 2020 - The workload of this class isn't "light" per se, but it is very light for a 191 class. The final grade is based on a presentation + outline, a 10 page paper, and a final exam. The final is based on the outlines of everyone in the class, and is nearly impossible to finish in its entirety (as is true for most of Langdon's finals.) But as long as you're answering the majority of the exam correctly, you're fine. Regarding textbooks, I bought the course reader but never used it. Other readings are provided by Professor Langdon in a Google Drive, but you're recommended to find some more depending on your topic for the presentation.

Summer 2021 - Even though the final test was a little bit stressful to me, the class was pretty good overall. To be honest, the workload for this class was not light, but it was light for a 191 course. A presentation with an outline, 10 pages paper, and a final exam. Professor Langdon was very helpful, answered any questions, and gave you many guidelines to do your presentation. I definitely will take Professor Langdon's class again! One of the best classes I took at UCLA no doubt.

I LOVE Doc Langdon. I took 191 and then 114a with him last year and he quickly became one of my all time favorite professors. He is SO dynamic and puts so much into every lecture. He is always happy to chat with you before class, or during office hours, and makes an effort to get to know students names and things about them. If you are lucky enough to have the chance to take History 191 with him, go for it. He created an amazing environment and I know I retained way more information than I do in most other classes! He's also funny, and kind, but fair. Put the work in to get an A or a B and it's yours... don't and he won't just give you the grade anyway. We love you, Doc!
