Quarter: Winter 2020
Grade: A
March 28, 2020

If you put in the work, your grade will be reciprocated. Midterms are straightforward, and as long as you remember the slides, you'll be fine (also not cumulative). There are three quizzes in discussion throughout the quarter (which the TA makes), and I found those to be trickier than the midterms as the TA looked for small details. Overall, this is a great class. I feel as though I definitely walked out with something valuable.

I LOVE Dr. Colecelli's slides. Straightforward and organized. He knows what's he's talking about. One of the very few MCDB classes that you can learn a ton of info without feeling overwhelmed

Great, interesting class. Lectures are recorded and are really informative. Colicelli is great and is very accessible in office hours and always welcomes questions. He even gives out prizes for students who participate during class!
There is a group presentation component, and each group has to read a paper. It is straightforward.
Exams are very reasonable.
I highly recommend this class.

Easy and interesting. I think the midterm average was like 85. No textbook readings. You have to read some papers and present on one as a group. The other professor, Shuai, sucks though. Still easy, but did not like his teaching style. Overall, I think this class is useful and anyone who cares to put in effort will pretty much get an A.
