brilliant man. Sometimes hard to understand and the lectures go by REALLY fast, but he'll explain it to you as long as you ask. READ the book. Text is easy to read but there are some parts that you need to read more than once, especially the ones about the experiments. Extra credits help so do 'em. TAs are very helpful, too, but watch out for the "famous" one. Nice guy, but grades REALLY hard on the paper. Tests are multiple choice as always but can be confusing. Pay particular attention to experiments' results.
Had Prof. Hummel for the first half of cog. psych. he's funny, nice, enthusiastic, interesting. the prof. knows his stuff well. but be prepared to breathe in a lot of info. which at most times can be confusing. his lectures are pretty organized and will have you pretty convinced that you know the stuff but when exams come you'd think you're taking a test for a different class, it's hard, really really hard. you have to know the info like the back of your hand. seems like he was very serious about the exam. i recommend Hummel, but know your stuff well, heard he's better than most profs. who teach 120A
John Hummel is an incredible professor. He is a gifted and dynamic lecturer, and he is REALLY excited about everything he teaches. He can't wait to see you outside class and tell you everything he knows and loves about cognitive psychology. He's also incredibly funny, in an offbeat way. It way truly my pleasure to be able to learn from him.
As a side note, he looks like Officer Doofy from Scary Movie, but I won't hold that against him.
