Not sure what the other people are talking about referring to Professor Miller. He is very consistent with the topics he is discussing, but you HAVE to take notes in all the lectures. There are two quizzes and two essays -- one of which is a very cool group project that allows you to be very creative with just about any environmental topic. Make sure to join a class study guide because people will put questions that they submitted onto there. Professor Miller is very genuine, knowledgeable, and experienced with the topics he is discussing.
I really enjoyed this class. Miller is a genuinely engaging professor that really cares about student learning. The class is split up into 2 "quizzes" which are really just short midterms, one small paper, and a large final paper. Miller may be a little disorganized in the trajectory of his lectures but the material is really interesting and if you engage with Miller himself you'll really like the class. I would take it again in a heartbeat. Just pay attention during lecture or record them and you'll be fine.
He is the WORST PROFESSOR. Do not take this class. This class has no structure at all. His lecture slides are just pictures of places he's traveled around the world. He doesn't provide a prompt or grading rubric for any of the papers. If you do bad on a paper, he doesn't give you feedback on how to do well on the next one. I absolutely hate this class, it's so hard to follow along during lecture because he has no clear train of thought. 90% of the time he doesn't even know what he's talking about, overall the class is just a complete mess
Miller has practically no idea what he's talking about. Just being able to follow his train of thought is a feat, let alone taking anything away from this class. He barely explains the essays that you write, and he is not willing to discuss the criteria used to grade or how to improve your score on the next paper.
