I was taking the TBA class, Professor Olivieri seems nice (we had commutation via email), but his TA named JOHN DELLAPORTA is a totally A-HOLE. BE AWARE IF THIS PERSON IS YOUR TA!!!! Dellaporta usually gives lower grade, for people who seems unprofessional to him, and grades from him usually lower 10% compare to other TAs. And this person gives arrogant comments on your paper, such a mean person. If you are not theatre major, stay away from this person, you won't make it because he built a "professional" grading standard for you.
There are only two papers making up your grade in this class. I only got an 85 on the first one, but I got great feedback from the TA Brett Calo. He even said that I could send in my draft for the final paper and get some feedback on it. I actually sent my draft to him twice and ended up getting a 100 on the final and an A in the class. Such a helpful TA! Not sure if I would have gotten a good grade without his explanations. It was not really clear to me what the professor wanted in the essay, so definitely ask for help if you are hesitating. Interesting class but a little overkill with the loong lecture videos and movies we need to watch. I did not watch them all.
Ok the above reviewer obviously had a different TA than I did. This class used to be a fun online class great way to get some units in during the summer while learning some cool facts about film. Unfortunately, I happened to get a TA who was an undergrad with an inferiority complex, and made up reasons that made no sense to lower my midterm grade to a B. I complained to the professor who was vacationing somewhere and he re graded my paper to a strong A. Yet, made a point that the original grading of the TA was not incorrect..... ok so then why did you change the grade? I guess he didn't want to admit in writing that the TA was an Asshole. Note: The TA also personally attacked me in an email when I just asked if he could explain more in detail the feedback he had given and how many points were taken off by three minor errors resulting in a B. He just BSed as well as trying to bully me, I went to the ombudsperson who agreed with me (unofficially) and helped me brainstorm how to write the complaint so I complained to the professor thus saving my grade. It was also interesting that about half the people in my section ended up dropping the class... I was taking two other classes on campus which combined were less work and more fun than this supposed "easy" A class. So I guess this class is up to the TA as soon as they post them I would research them like crazy and make sure they are not a snotty little undergrad who cannot remain professional.
Take his class. Super hot professor who knows how to teach something actually interesting. I took online class so I don't know him personally, but if you are looking for easy A upper class, 120A is the one you can't miss. I really enjoyed his lectures but I had hard major classes at that time so I couldn't really take time to watch all his lecture. I actually watched only three lectures but still got a solid A.
