This class was the easiest GE I have taken at UCLA. Dr. Woods-Marsden was very straight forward about what was to be tested (the first day of class she even gives you a slide list that marks all the paintings/sculptures you could be tested on). Unlike many other ge classes, she assigns a reasonable amount of reading. That being said, if you actually do the reading, pay attention in class, and memorize everything she says to memorize you will do well (I got an A+ in the class without much effort). However, if you are not interested in Art or Renaissance history whatsoever, you shouldn't take this class because you will probably find it boring.
As an Art History major, this is what I expect from my classes: an exceptional amount of information and an exceptional amount of memorization. I can see how this class could be interpreted as tedious, boring, and overly involved, but in terms of an Art History course, Professor Woods-Marsden does mitigate some of the damage by providing you with slide lists and lecture notes. Your TAs tend to only be slightly more than useless, since UCLA's Art History department is geared towards Modern and Non-western art---so section can be a little ponderous. This class is definitely not an easy GE, you need to be able to recognize about 100+ images by sight and be able to recall: Title, Artist, EXACT Date, EXACT Location, and Patron, in addition to understanding all of the over-arching concepts.
