I loved this class with Prof Ling!
Prof Ling: He really cares about his students' success and is willing to work with students one-on-one through email and office hour appointments. He is very supportive!
Workload: Not bad, but I took this class online so there were no reading quizzes or anything. In fact, he was very lenient about our completion of the readings. There was still a lot of reading though (about a book a week). He sent us his lecture slides so we could reference them throughout the class. The class consisted of 2 short papers where he chose the prompt and one longer final paper where you chose the prompt.
I learned a lot in this class. Although he's a tough grader, this class made me a better writer and I am happy with my grade!
I read most of the short stories again the night before the final, and I have absolute confidence in the fact that I would have failed if I had not. Tests are like, 8-10 questions long and worth a total of 120 points. For those of you doing the math, there is an incredibly small margin of error, and if you simply don't know the answer to one you're completely boned.
