Prof. Hunter is without a doubt AMAZING. I always looked forward to going to his lectures. His lectures are extremely engaging, he's humorous and his passion about the subject rubs off on his students. At least, after I took the class, I felt like I had to take action and fight inequalities in our school's systems. The midterm and final weren't too bad, either.
Take this class.
Professor Hunter was great! He definitely cared very much about what his students thought and wanted their input on issues discussed in class. Probably the only problem is that he wasn't too available in-person to speak to. Otherwise, the class was great, discussions flowed well and there was a weekly reflection that was easy to do that helped spur discussions in section. Other than that, there was a midterm paper and a final paper that weren't too difficult and were rather interesting.
Professor Hunter is a fantastic professor! He prepares his lectures well and his class is always interesting. You don't actually have to go to lecture for this class, but I always enjoyed listening to what he had to say. He's very passionate and extremely knowledgeable about the material. My only complaint would be that he is only on campus for a few hours a week, so it can be difficult if you want/need to talk to him. Otherwise, his class is wonderful...definitely one of the most engaging professors I've had at UCLA!
Prof. Hunter really cares about his students. He tries to get everyone involved and asks for feedback from the class and his readings are pretty interesting as well. (They tend to get a little long) The class is not boring at all and will actually provoke some thoughts/conversations in class. He is not always available to speak with but answers email quickly. The class is interesting, the readings are good Overall if this class is a must for anyone. If your thinking about minoring in Education, you have to take this class you'll love it.
This class has interesting readings, and he's always open to what students have to say in class. This class does get political, and he even admits education that this class is political. He e-mails you pretty fast, and he prepares his lectures well, it's definitely not a dry class. Take this class.
Prof. Hunter is overall a great professor who is interested in everyone learning and relating from the readings and lectures. He's very well organized with powerpoints and is very approachable in person or through email. I strongly recommend the class if you're interested in education and/or social justice and in answering curiosities about your own education experience. The midterm is not that hard but you have to prove you've been doing the reading so that's one thing you can't fall behind on.
