This is hands down the best class I've taken at UCLA. My final grade isn't confirmed yet but right now I have an A+/A in this class. Both midterms and final are open note, in-person class is optional, and you only need to attend 3 discussions to get full credit--the more you attend the more extra credit you receive. He offers almost too many extra credit opportunities, and it boosts your grade by whole percentage points, not partial. He's funny, engaging, and everything on the tests are literally on the homework. Homework is based on completion not correctness. The only 'downside' (which isn't a downside unless you make it that way) is that each test is 25% of your grade, so if you fail a test you'll have to try harder in the other ones to boost your grade. However, you shouldn't really fail unless you don't try or don't understand the homework. Overall, he is a very understanding teacher and you'd quite literally have to not try to fail this class. Trust you will come out learning so much!

Trott is a great professor who clearly explains the content of 100a and is very understanding for any issues that may come up during the quarter. The class's content is not very difficult, and the lectures are very clear and offer all the information needed for the exams. I definitely recommend taking this class with Trott, as he is super friendly, funny, and kind.

Like so funny and weird class. Each time that you get a correct answer you get a ridiculous encouragement. I never went to lectures but I still mostly managed even though I am not a big coding person. I highly recommend taking stats 10 before this class so that you have a good R background. Also the professor was funny. The labs are dumb though hahah. Not that much work mostly doing the textbook.

I thought Professor Trott was a great professor and really wanted to make sure all his students understand his course. I joined in two weeks into the quarter and he reached out to make sure I would catch up which I thought is very thoughtful and considerate of him. There were some terminology that I wasn't aware of and when he used them, I get lost in the lectures. However, I thought the class was easy and manageable if you made the effort. I would love to take him again!

The professor is super nice and does his best to make the lectures engaging and interesting. I felt that the workload was very manageable. You do have to read the module before it is lectured in class and there are quizzes before and after each module, but the quizzes are easy, open note, and you can retake them as many times as you'd like. If you do the readings before class then the lecture itself is almost a review, so you see the content many times, which can get repetitive but it does make the course easier. The midterm and final were also online, open note, and you can take them in groups if you want. I found them very easy as long as you have been going to class and the labs so you know how to do the analysis. Overall I would recommend Trott, he's a really cool teacher and his class is very easy if you do the work.

Professor Trott is such an amazing professor for this class! He has the willingness and patience that I don’t often see in my other professors. He offers EC and his homework assignments are more than doable. His exams are also EXTREMELY fair and he even lets you bring in a cheat sheet. He is an amazing professor and I can’t wait to take more classes with him!

Professor Trott is such an amazing teacher, I was so nervous about this class and saw that he was a new professor too so I was even more nervous. But damn, he is such an amazing professor. He explains everything so well and he is super helpful if you don't understand. His class consisted of 2 exams, weekly quizzes which you can take as many times as you need to get a 10/10, some lab assignments, and some extra credit. I am taking 2 more of his classes because he is just so damn good. Take him even if you don't need the class.

This was my first stats class at UCLA and I was so nervous about it. But to my surprise, I really enjoyed it and learned oodles of useful information. Professor Trott is absolutely amazing. He is very good at breaking down complex concepts and cares about his students. As long as you pay attention during lecture and take good notes from the textbook, the class should go swimmingly. I would also highly recommend going to office hours. There was also lab sessions where we went over basic stats software in jamovi. Attendance was not mandatory but I defo recommend going because it is quite interesting. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable this class was. Yes, you do need to study but it was quite manageable and Trott was more than happy to help. Trott is amazing :)
