Professor Kelley is an awesome Professor and I am glad that I took this class during my first quarter at UCLA. He had the perfect calendar that gave specific deadline and assignments that helped me pace out and be ready for the next class. He valued effort and hard-work that gave students full opportunity to improve their writing skills. Even though writing assignments were getting tough as move on, they are really helpful in terms of strengthening writing ability and learning new stuff in class. Overall, the workload is manageable. I wish I could take any classes with him again. And he is the best!!!
I definitely recommend and enjoy his class. He is a very funny professor. Getting a high grade is not tough as long as you carefully revise your essays. More importantly, you will actually learn some helpful writing skill in his class!
My experience with Professor Kelley was great. Unlike some of other professors, Dr. Kelley actually cares about student's learning and a lot of course materials/lectures are put together based on the strength& weaknesses of the overall class, so some of the information from the previous years may not be the same. the i in the course name stands for international but also stands for "intensive," you are expected to write a lot of essays with unique requirements/ topics, and they are NOT easy, but you go through multiple drafts so it allows you to revise it over and over again. Participation is a HUGE part of your grade (30%) so be ready to participate in class and don't be late. Overall, this class really improves your ability as a writer and is very interesting to attend. Highly recommend.
