Quarter: Spring 2024
Grade: A

This is one of my favorite classes I have taken at UCLA so far! Professor Johnson is incredibly well spoken and passionate about the material, making the class both informative and captivating. The class is very dynamic between the professors, TAs, and students, creating an enriching learning environment where individuals can engage in discussion and build off of one another. Homework assignments were low-stakes, but still ensured students were engaging with the material in a thoughtful way. The material covered independently and in class was very interesting, spanning genres, time, etc. Larger assignments like papers and reports were encouraged to have individuality and were designed to build on students' own interests, making them enjoyable. Assignment expectations were always reasonable. While the events of this quarter caused significant disruption to this class (rightfully so), the professor handled it with grace and support for students. I deeply appreciate Professor Johnson's dedication to her students and passion for music and queer culture. Highly recommend!! And hopeful that she can have a peaceful quarter sometime soon.
