LOVED THIS CLASS... PLS TAKE IT. You basically just talk about food and its effects on climate change. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that this class has changed my outlook on the world and how it's significantly altered my food choices. Professor Jay is an amazing professor and you could really tell that she's passionate about teaching. In terms of workload, it's very light. We wrote discussion posts reflecting on the material that we learned-- fairly easy. At the end of the quarter, she assigned a project where we researched a food related environmental issue. There was no strict grading in this class, but was moreso focused on learning about our foods environmental impact. 10000/10!! :DD
This class is the best class ive taken at UCLA. I had so much fun in this class and learnt so much about food and its impact on all of the environmental problems the world faces. The class was very chill and there was almost no workload or homework, It was just a fun class to talk about things I was passionate about! Professor Jay is the best!!
If you are looking for a Fiat Lux that requires as little from you as possible, then you've come to the right place. There is no homework, no tests, no participation, and no requirements. It really is just a discussion of the topic of the relationship between our food and the environment. Professor Jay is a very nice person with a great sense of humor. She does value participation and input from students, but, as aforementioned, nothing is required of you for the grade. Also, the information learned is widely useful in everyday life, because it has a direct correlation with the choices that we make about food every day. Overall, this class is highly recommended if you find the subject interesting and are willing to spend 10 hours just chilling and learning about how your food choices impact the environment.
