This is a great class that covers lots of topics in early childhood education. Professor Grammer genuinely cares about her students, and hosts "coffee talks" throughout the quarter to meet with her students. The readings must be completed to do well on the exams and section activities, but she will give an explanation for many of them during class. Exams (called 'quizzams,' held 5 times throughout the quarter) aren't difficult as long as you were listening in lecture; not a big time commitment to study for them.

The professor is really chill, easy, and likable. There are plenty of opportunities to raise your grade and as long as you understand the major concepts and its real-world applications, then you can get good grades on the test. I highly recommend taking this class.

I loved this class so much, not only was it interesting, but Professor Grammer made it fun and clear. The workload was definitely not a lot, go to lecture to understand the bigger concepts because some material on the quizzams (mini midterms) include graphs. The quizzes are definitely not designed to trick you, they are easy so long you pay attention or study the slides. There is a policy brief towards the end of the quarter but it is not as difficult as it sounds. Go to your TA for advice on your policy brief or for any questions you have, they are extremely helpful and understanding. I definitely recommend this class ! Good luck :)

By far, Jennie Grammer is the most eloquent, concise, clear professor I've ever had!! If you are planning to fulfill the education minor or interested in taking an education course, please take one of her classes!

She is clear with instruction, her exams are fair, the workload is not heavy at all, and most of all there is no extensive paper that needs to be written as a final. There is however a policy brief that you must submit as your final, but it is very doable the TAs are extremely helpful in providing advice on the topic, etc.

Instead of midterms, she has 4 quizzams (similar to mini-midterms) that test your understanding of the material, and they are straight-foward, not-trying-to-trick-you tests.
