Spencer is a great lecturer and knows so much about Latin America's past and present. However, just like the other person mentioned, she does expect a lot from students! Sometimes it is too much and the material can be overwhelming. Beware of the written assignments because she is very picky with grammar and word choice, just like an English professor! Also she randomly calls on students throughout lecture, so be ready to participate. It is crucial to do all of her assigned reading because she goes over all of it and asks questions and comments. If you are really interested in Latin America take her because you will be exposed to so much material and she is familiar with so many dates and facts. Her lectures were analytical and intense so be ready to take many notes. So I would recommend her if you are an LAS major or just want to enhance your knowledge about Latin America.
