Boring as hell and long, but you have to take it for the Ed major. Incredibly easy. I spent barely any time on the assignments and got 100% in the class. It's completion-based. Just turn something in and you're good. Dr. Dorio is nice, but honestly strikes me as not all that smart. He has trouble expressing eloquent thoughts and the class is pretty useless. He also says silly things like "you can cry in this class, share personal experiences, traumas" etc, which is just weird and like not what the class was actually about at all. But good GPA boost and he's nice so whatever. Disappointing how many education classes at UCLA are like fake classes graded on completion, but that's the way it is. So since you have to take this boring class to graduate, you might as well take it with Dr. Dorio because it is so extremely easy and he's nice.
Professor Dorio was very knowledgable about global citizenship and very involved in his lessons. He was kind and understanding towards students during the tough online quarter. The class requires seven 1.5-2 page papers at the end of the week that respond to the prompt he gives. They are simple reflections about what was learned that week in class and how you want to apply it in your own actions/future profession. We also had a 3 part project due that involved creating and presenting a lesson plan that would implement the global citizenship goals we learned about. Great class, learned something new and appreciated Dr. Dorio and his assistant, Yuqing!
Professor Dorio is amazing! The workload is extremely light he really just wants his students to feel comfortable and learn in his environment. Would recommend it for education majors and also non-education majors!
