Lectures were basically 45 minutes of lecture on whatever country he is focusing on for the day, then you watch a movie from that country. The class itself was easy, but a few things about it stuck out to me as not great. A lot of the movie selections were great and I really enjoyed watching them, especially in in the theater, but some of the selections were a bit puzzling. I felt there were much better movies/movies that are more representative of their respective countries that could have been picked. Maybe I am being picky, but some of the choices really did not make sense to me and it was clear most of the class didn't really enjoy the films either. Also during lecture he tended to spoil a lot of movies, many of which we were not watching in class. I found this to be really frustrating and just generally annoying as someone who is very into film. He would start describing a movie and I would start thinking it sounded really good and would add it to my list, then seconds later he would describe the ending of the film....just really strange and unnecessary. If movie spoilers bother you as much as they bother me, maybe avoid this professor! Additionally, he tended to mix up information quite a bit and the lectures were pretty all over the place and really heavy with material and terms. Luckily, my TA was very helpful with breaking down the lecture and screening material and helped us prepare for the final exam which was incredibly easy once I had looked over my notes and the study guide. There isn't a midterm but there is an essay which was pretty simple. In general, the class is okay, but if you have some other options maybe go with something else. Fairly easy A though.
