Though the class may seem difficult, DeNardo is a good professor. He is very willing to help you understand the material and truly cares about his studends sucess. The class assignments consist of weekly mini-labs and reading summaries which count for your required but ungraded part of the grade (either complete or incomplete), 10 page (text part only, graphs are also required) Maxi-lab project, a midterm, a final, and an optional book review that can replace half of your final grade.

The maxi project is by no means easy and takes a lot of time. It involves using a wide range of data and using it to test a hypothesis. For our class we had to test the data to determine how Barak Obama was elected. It is difficult, but interesting. Dont wait until the weekend before its due if you want a good grade. DeNardo is more than willing to help you but you will need to review what you learned in lab and class to know how to do the project.

Lectures can be a bit boring but DeNardo does try to make them interesting by throwing in his personal (albeit a bit nerdy) wit. You do need to attend every lecture because he uses slides (which are in the course reader you have to purchase) and you need to follow along with him to understand them. All in all, DeNardo really does care about his students and their ability to gain an understanding of the material.
