this class is a pain, but doable. the TA's are funny, they even got confused in some material which is funny because we were all confused at the end of the day
Denardo- he is great, funny, and nice.
take this class with this professor. you will not regret it. I heard Zaller and other professors are harder.
Denardo is a nice man and wants his students to succeed. There is a genrerous curve so the odds of failing the class are low. However, if you want to be able to study and feel like you were effective, this is not the class for you. He refuses to give you specifics on the midterm and final exams. Being a math expert is also not neccessary to do well. I never went to an entire class, didn't do a single reading, and manged to walk away with an A-.
I was not looking forward to taking a math course considering I am a North campus major and hate anything to do with math. That being said, Professor Denardo made this requirement as painless as possible. The review before me is way off base with the things said about him. In my opinion, EVERYTHING Denardo says is relevant and helped me on the midterm, which i got an A on by the way. If you write everything he says down, you will find that it is incredibly easy to understand what the concepts are and to excel on the test. He gives you concepts and just wants you to understand them, which with a small amount of thinking on the student's end, is easy to do. It really made you think and not in a bad way either. I can see myself applying the lessons learned in this class in and out of class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER
lectures that mean nothing.
pointlessly strenuous projects that mean nothing.
extremely vast amounts of readings that mean nothing.
why would you assign so much reading only to spend "lecture" talking about projects that don't mean a thing to your grade as long as u just follow simple directions?
i am currently studying for his midterm and he keeps talking about connection points throughout the course together...and there are none. ridiculous. no one knows whats on the midterm.
avoid. please.
So DeNardo can be frustrating for people who always want to be spoon fed the material. He will lecture in a very roundabout way. ¡Just pay attention to main concepts and everything else will be facil! Maxi-Project takes time, but is manageable and BS'able. Pretty generous grader with good TA's.
Denardo was great. he was a bight quirky but that's because he's actually quite brilliant. Fair grader as well. I've taken Stats twice before this, and absolutely HATED it. Took it with Denardo and it could have been my favorite class of the quarter (out of 5).
Prof. DeNardo tries to make the subject interesting but unless you have a mathematical mind, this is nearly impossible. His class however will make you a better critical thinker. He is very smart and someone good to learn from. Definitely a fair grader. For the midterm exam, on questions where most of the class didn't do well, he'd still give everyone credit.
You do have to keep up with some readings and do projects that will help you understand the material better.
Had I known the arbitrary nature of this class, i would've taken Stats 10.
This class was a mystery, no one in the class knew what to study for in the midterm or final.
The guy rambles on about concepts for all of lecture and then says that it wasn't important.
He may be an accomplished, intelligent and brilliant man but he should stay away from teaching.
Ok let it be known that Professor Denardo is an extremely nice person. However his class was not easy as some may say. There was a significant work load, there were article summaries every week and "mini" projects. These time consuming tasks were "not graded" yet they were a mandatory part of the grade. His Maxi project took so much damn time it was ridiculous. I would not recommend his class although now that the quarter is over I do feel like I learned something. You do not computer numbers what so ever in this class its all theoretical etc. The reading is boring, we spent over $100 on a book which was absolutely never used. His choice of T.A's was outrageous, both did not speak english and were trying to teach statistics on a computer program. The class was outrageous. YET AGAIN DENARDO is a very nice and understanding person and I think he is just to smart for the rest of the world. I believe that his class would have been more productive if he had chosen competent T.A.s
This class is so freaking hard!
I dont understand why there are some people saying it's easy...maybe that's because they are good at math
DeNardo is a nice guy, but i just want to know why after the midterm, the whole course suddenly become so unbelievably difficult
and then we have to deal with that damn software...damn it!
to those suck at math, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
