This was the easiest class I've taken at UCLA. There were two 5 page papers and a take home final (a letter explaining how taking the class affected you), which definitely made it much easier to study for my other finals. There were 8 pop quizzes to make sure you attended lecture, based on the novel we read (Parcival). The novel was boring and tedious but there seemed to be a generous curve so I ended up with good quiz scores anyway. He drops two of the quizzes as well, so it's not the end of the world if you skip a couple of lectures. Make sure to bring your laptop to class, because you WILL fall asleep. The mandatory discussion was a pain too, but in the end it was worth it, because the TAs give you a lot of material that allow you to write your essays.

I really liked the class, and am surprised it didn't get better (or at least more) reviews. Sorry to disappoint guys, but this class isn't about knights killing each other and stuff like that - this class is definitely based aroud love (which turned out to be a plus, since a lot more ladies take the course than knights). I found the lectures interesting, as Schultz certainly knows what he's talking about and enjoys doing so. The papers and presentation weren't too hard, as Karina (our TA) graded pretty generously. For the quizzes, you can get away with finding a good chapter summary of Parzival (as long as their aren't any fill in the blank questions - in which case you're screwed), but you should read through Bumke. Shouldn't be too hard to pull an A in this class and, overall, I found it to be a pretty fun GE. Rock on Schultz!

ok, so i thought this class wassssss really chill. don't quite understand why ppl are going so crazy over em. as long as u really listen in lecture and just skim over the readings, i think you'd do just fine. just make sure that u read parzival though

He was the worst professor that i've had so far. He didn't teach me anything, and if your ideas differed from his opinions, it would be impossible for you to get higher than a B-. AVOID this guy at all costs.

Prof. Schultz... i hated the class the first week but that was my fault-i didnt do any of the readings. Underestimating the class.. but after midterms...i started enjoying the class! Jus do your readings & go to class (yah-be a good student) and you'll enjoy the class. HE is a really good professor, talk to him if you have the chance
