I recommend this class for all psych majors to fulfill their upper div requirement. You will definitely need the textbook for the exams (you will miss out on easy exam points) and there are opportunities for extra credit. Although lectures are audio recorded, I think that you should try to attend lecture as much as possible because she makes them very engaging and it helped me remember concepts she covered. Overall, the course was very easy to manage and doesn't require too much of your time.
Professor Krems was the most engaging lecturer I have ever had. Every class was exciting and hilarious. The exams were also open-note and very easy. You definitely need the textbook and pay attention in discussion but I loved this class and hope to take more with Dr. Krems.
The professor is extremely engaging and makes the class interesting. The exams however are like 50% from the readings which are super dense and a good chunk of it is not covered in lectures. Everyone gets a different exam which sometimes can suck bc there are some questions she will give everyone a point for if she determined it was too hard so if you got those you got a free point and if you didn't, you didn't get the point.
Lectures are recorded (only audio), which was super beneficial to look back on before exams. The entire class is mostly based on exam grades (other than a couple small assignments + extra credit) but they are open book! The class content was also very interesting.
Very engaging and funny professor, the only issues I had were the confusing slides and towards the end of the class the subjects we went over were a bit dry. You will need the textbook for the exams but skimming through it will be enough. This class is heavily weighted on exams.
Super interesting class and professor. I would just say avoid Perez as the TA because she is super unorganized and will not respond to emails. Discussion should be an easy 100% but with her it was very chaotic. Besides that class is fun, graded mostly on exams, and professor is very engaging.
Dr. Krems was very funny and engaging. The lectures were super interesting but I think the slides could've been a little bit more organized. There were times were the slides were just pictures and out of order and it could be hard to follow along when listening to the audio when trying to review for exams. Exams are pretty easy as long as you do the work otherwise it'll end up just being confusing (exams were not the same for everyone and questions came from a giant test bank). I had Perez as a TA and she was not the best. I think I saw her maybe 5x this quarter. Things were never graded on time and doesn't respond to emails.
Overall, this class is great and I think Dr. Krems was awesome! P.S., participate in lecture and you might end up getting a rubber chicken!
